Hey /lit/,

I want to buy a book containing the complete works of Shakespeare.

Any thoughts or recommendations for the one with the best layout or organization?

Arden if you're autistic, Norton if you're not, Oxford if you're a pleb, Penguin if you're a normie, New Oxford if you're a 400lb tumblrina with indigo hair

can you elaborate on why an autismo would want the arden.

Oh I see there's no footnotes.

This is a quick rundown on full editions, not collected. For a single book the only right answer is Norton, there's nothing even close to it.

I picked up this for $2. Not sure why this would be considered pleb though. Rundown?

What about riverside's?

It's fine. Norton is just annotated better.

Riverside is great. That Anon is a pleb for not even mentioning it.

Norton only if you're dumb amerikan. They fucked their spelling hard. half kidding, but it is annoying. They're one of the rare quarto/earliest-version based complete editions, so if that's your thing, they're good enough, extensive annotations, but their mention of more in DIGITAL EDITION will make you want to murder the one thinking that a good idea.

The best complete work with annotations is RSC Shakespeare. Grab it.

Riverside or Pelican? Pros/Cons?

Regarding the Norton, is the 4 volume edition the same in content? I'd rather not have a huge hardcover.

wait, so in their annotations in the paperback/hardcover version they link to the digital version? Who the fuck thought this was a good idea?

Their complete has no notes. However Arden is autistic because their single play books are 3/4 notes and essays.

I picked this up for 5 bucks years ago.
Is this any of those things? Or just some random shit? It worked well enough for what I needed.

>>10179591
No, they don't. The digital edition has the same content as the physical one plus more versions of the plays (quartos, folio), recordings and other appendixes. It also can be downloaded to your phone.

>>10178940
Yes it is.

What's the best edition for non-native speakers?
