We're all people who need to get their life together in some way or another, no? Seems to be a pretty common denominator among us denizens of /lit/.

Say you buy or are given a book by an unfamiliar or not so well known author, would you take the time to read it?

If I can incorporate some of the fearlessness which stems from anonymity into actually writing something other than another shitpost I may be able to write something I’m not embarrassed of.

How do you find the focus to read dense books in a time so filled with distractions? I used to be able to read at least 30-40 books a year, now I'm happy If I can do 1/4 of that. I don't know if It's age, over-exposition to instant gratification entertainment, too many distractions or all of that together, but It became much harder to concentrate on a book, especially less accessible ones that are not related to some tangible pragmatic gain.

Share your secrets with me, anons.

Not this anon but, only reasons I personally can't make a discord for this general is because a) I'm severely under-read and b) I'm a female. Too easy to laugh at as a server owner, but I'd love for it to be a thing.
Someone else gotta do it, someone more /lit/.

Looking for depressing // romantic poetry recommendations that either have a bit of rhythm to them or really get to the emotion. Not really interested in anything convoluted

Engineers and computer science majors need not apply, I'm talking about majors that can actually produce good in the world sweeties.

How else are you going to involve yourself in a social environment with people willing to engage thoughtful discussion? Socrates thrived on question-based analysis. He surrounded himself with people who fed on socializing. Regular people don't want to talk about philosophy. If you have intellectual friends than that's a great alternative, otherwise university isn't that bad. You sound like an underachiever clouded in delusion about education. Just because you decided to drop out and work minimum wage doesn't mean others should too. Reading Plato in the bathroom during your 15m breaks doesn't mean you're "beating the system".

4chan is great. I prefer face to face discussion though.

Not sure if you loved it or hated it.

Not that it really matters, but I just got done with a semester long undergrad poetry writing workshop, so it's good to have some feedback from people other than femminazi's and the one kid who puts three adjectives in front of everything.
