It might be because the origins of western philosophy are based upon a combination of Christianity and ancient pagan greek thinking. As in: a combination of semitic and indo-european based metaphysical worldviews.
Well, Hinduism is ALSO a indo-european based metaphysical worldview because of the aryan invasion! Therefore ancient greek paganism and hinduism (and I assume more broadly all of the dharmic religions) are cousins!

this stuff will give you a nice archaeology and linguistics combo
