Jamesfag here, do low level work with people with psychiatric issues and considering a career in clinical psych.

Why would you be a psychiatrist? Due to the state of the medical/insurance industry it is almost impossible to actually practice talk therapy (i.e. know and have a connection with your patients) as a psychiatrist. The role of the career, at least todat in the United States, is most primarily to be a specialized prescriber. Why would you go through medical school and more to be a glorified pill mill? Especially if you're compassionate and curious enough to be interested in schizophrenic literariness.
