In spite of Hoppe's profoundly mistaken alternatives to Democratic regimes, his criticism is well founded and pretty much spot on. In fact, it's kind of ironic that it's precisely China that today carries on the torch of such "trading from a distance" spirit embodied by the Austrian school. They don't want yuan circulating around nor do they want you culturally enriching their women, but they certainly want to have WeChat, Baidu and their own reincarnations of all our capital surplus and societal facets, albeit in their own cultural style.

That's very much like a planned (as opposed to random) version of the Monte Carlo approach, applied to reading: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Monte_Carlo_method ; Reading in excess for the sake of reading and sampling thousands and thousands of ideas is actually not the best approach we could do, I believe. Humans are usually better at digesting in excess at a smaller number of ideas and letting that develop into fruition instead. Otherwise we get lost on too many surfaces with no way into the actual meat of any topic.

I don't think setting a "daily achievement" for this is any better than reading the LEAST you can while STILL having a lot of thoughts popping inside your head. Make less words count more if your objective is knowledge. Write about what you read (this is a big one), and get critique from that.
