have you ever seen a dead channel? it's not blue, it's most grey but it may have some sprinkles of color here and there. It's actually a clever simile that introduces the theme of technology in the first line of the novel and describes the strange cyberpunk world with skies blackened by pollution and neon-lights reflected on them from all the advertising.

You shouldn't take /v/'s opinion on literature seriously. Actually, don't take /v/'s opinion on anything. That board is trash.

Neuromancer had plenty of scenes set in daylight (i.e. anytime they were at Freeside), however it still had that gloomy tone to it. The opening line is set at daylight yet sets the mood perfectly.

Nothing from the CP2077 trailer gave off the same vibe.

Land actually writes some fiction-fiction as well as theory fiction, but I haven't spent much time with it.

That he likes Neuromancer is no great surprise, since he's sort of like the house philosopher of cyberpunk. Maybe he read Neal Stephenson or Peter Watts at some.

I think he liked Snowpiercer and on his blog he was raving about the new Ghost in the Shell.

I just finished Neuromancer, /lit/ - what are your thoughts on it, and where do I go with Gibson next? I was thinking Pattern Recognition
