I'm kind of a brainlet, but I'd like to become educated. I'm in my first year of college, and I feel as though I'm not learning as much as I'd hoped. My brother is in his second year of law school and outpaces me in terms of intellectual discussion. I need a good entry point into books that would let me participate in discussions beyond a base level. Can anyone recommend me some books?

>little girl, daughter of fire
>epic journey, she travels to a place on "the other side of the world"
>from frozen lands to deadly deserts
>on the way she meet people, animals... all of them are losers, outcasts. They end travelling together.
>the rest of the people is bad, religious, egoistic (she's raped a few times, actually)
>the animal (some dog or wolfdog) who is also the narrator, is somehow a representation of myself and my sexual urges (a bit like Lewis Carroll's white knight).
>pedosexual fanservice, a lot
>inspirated by Zdzislaw Beksinski, John Martin... (among many others)

Actually, I don't know if I should write a novel, or an epic poem.

How to write about an epic travel, where the message is the travel itself, not the goal?

I took 150mg once and I was taking 50mg nightly for a week another time. I've taken the normal dose and I find it does get me to sleep slightly quicker but has no other benefits

on 50mg my dreams were very distressing and intense, they didn't have the floaty quality that my dreams normally have, and despite sleeping quickly after taking the pills I would only sleep 4-5 hours and wake up feeling very awake but with a feeling that reminded me of when I drink too much coffee.

150mg reminded me of a psychedelic fever dream, I was enveloped in a giant mechanical 3D mandala made out of particle board, wood veneer and dirty orange shag carpet (I work at a thrift store and see this kind of shit all day) and when I reached the center I saw a giant goat-headed fleshbeast that spoke in tongues and sent me down a water slide made of meat into a bin full of sharp tonka toys. When I woke up the next morning I felt mentally drained like I had been studying all day but physically I felt well rested. I had trouble sleeping for like a month afterward, so would not recommend.
