Okay /lit/, I need your help.

I used to read a lot as a kid, and then during my late teens I just lost all drive to do it, because "hehey I'm smart and rational already". A couple years later, I find myself struggling to stick to anything I try to read. I literally feel my mind rotting as I increasingly steep closer to becoming a blabbering mouthbreather, and I don't want that.

What can you guys recommend for someone to help refocus and be able to absorb literature again? I'm interested in building a basic foundation with which to be able to tackle Philosophy, political thought, etc., something that helps me find my way through reason.
