I don't consider that I've read enough to start recommending, but since we're talking about psychiatry / psychology: which was the first book your read on the matter that got you interested in the subject or any of it's branches?
For me it was “The Boy Who was Raised as a Dog”, wasn't really interested in child psychiatry/psychology until I read this

I'm gonna be honest, /lit/. I never really wanted to write most of my life. I tried to when I was like 10 because I wanted to be one of those big famous young writers but that faded (I had some fucking cool ideas too).

But since I've been here for the past half year, the idea has grown on me and grown on me. I honestly have zero time to write a book but you fuckers are pulling me in.
