Hi /lit/
I'm a complete ignoramus who is tired of it. I want to start reading more, but I have ADHD which makes me lose focus very quickly, especially with long-winded text
I'm big into music and one of my all time favorite lyricists is Mark E Smith of the Fall. He has a lot of songs that tackle ideas that unironically make me think and he expresses his thoughts and questions in a very unique, unconventional, yet engaging way.
Some of his lyrics are in story format

Pic related is a list of his favorite books. Most of them are spy thrillers, which is fine by me, but I want something that's more than just entertainment.
With all this in mind, what from this list of books seems most suited to my taste? Any that you would recommend?
For reference my favorite books are Heart of Darkness and Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. Don't judge, again, I'm a literary mental midget.

Story of the Eye, Equus, Heart of Darkness, The Sailor Who Fell From Grace With the Sea, Thief's Journal, and Torture Garden

you could find the rest of these portrait of the artist as a consumer things as well if a musician reccomendation would make you want to read stuff
