After looking around me in vain for a means of disciplining my peculiar nature, I at last chanced upon the Ethics of this man. To say exactly how much I gained from that work was due to Spinoza or to my own reading of him would be impossible; enough that I found in him a sedative for my passions and that he appeared to me to open up a large and free outlook on the material and moral world. But what specially attached me to him was the boundless disinterestedness which shone forth from every sentence. That marvelous saying, 'Whoso truly loves God must not desire God to love him in return,' with all the premises on which it rests and the consequences that flow from it, permeated my whole thinking. To be disinterested in everything, and most of all in love and friendship, was my highest desire, my maxim, my constant practice; so that that bold saying of mine at a later date, 'If I love Thee, what is that to Thee?' came directly from my heart.

Everyone always focuses on Spinoza's metaphysics too much while forgetting the book is called the Ethics. Spinoza's actual philosophy is about how the point of existence for every individual thing is that it strives to fulfill the potential of its own being. Emotions that are based on things exterior to ourselves like pride or jealousy or even love should be avoided because you will became a slave to them. Life should be lived actively and rationally and not passively and emotionally. Though I've always found Spinoza's ethics somewhat at odds with his metaphysics. If he wasn't bound by his metaphysics to be a determinist he would've been a huge advocate of free will.

Focus on your physical health and your mental health will improve along with it. Start running every day and eat healthy, maybe find people to run with so you can get the social aspect in along with it, also lift if that's your thing. Physical health and mental health are effectively the same thing. As you become stronger and healthier, so will your mind. Read the ethics of Spinoza (pbuh) and he will make it all clear. A healthy mind in a healthy body.
