No you fucking idiot, people don't idolise them, but they are characters distinctly relatable to to masculine experience. It is in that flaw of the character that it offers some greater consolation through their suffering. Though I hear "art shouldn't be related to individual experience", though it should be, I will move on for now. It is in that image of the character which, as low as cinema may be, finds its truth through the realisation of itself in the artform. An ideal portrayal which has no necessary application of the "ought", but of a self contained suffering implicit to a reciprocation of hierarchy, which means of an aesthetic value but also beyond temporal measurement and so the finitude of limitation, or better put as of "lacking". It is a whole thing of its own. And returning to art and individual experience, we learn from Plato's Phaedrus that true understanding must be related to ones own subjectivity, and that understanding must be of object or in other words; of the impersonal truth which is necessarily also of the interpersonal. Remember, "it is through instruction that we come to have understanding, and through persuasion that we come to have true belief. I am by no means advocating for one to wallow in themselves, but that as long as individual reason does not overtake the implicit within the frame of art, or anything for that matter, then it is fine, rather, productive.

So the character cannot be seen simply as a good or bad, of what to and not to do, or even as a thing unaccountable to individual application or judgement, but all of these things.

And replace Rick and Morty with There Will be Blood.
