When I first moved to germany, I couldn't speak the language. When our class went to a dinky little library, there were no english books I was interested in, so I just grabbed this one off the shelf just so I borrowed at least one book. It's the polar opposite of the kind of books I usually read, so I'm not even sure why I picked it. Got hooked on it and I've read it at least half a dozen times. I don't know if it's still my favorite, but it was for years.

I've never seen anyone else mention it, and apparently it got pretty meh reviews, but I fucking love this book. It was my favorite for a long time.

Question:
How much worth do you put into the physical appearance of books? If I don't get the right cover on my books, I get very agitated.
I won't even pick up a book if the cover isn't right, either.

Emotionally Weird by Kate Atkinson.
It's actually one of my favorite books and I greatly recommend it. The protagonist is also the narrator and she just... godmodes things occasionally. Also the most convoluted family in the history of disfuntional families, ever.
