are there any good translations of Heidegger's writing? or do i have to learn German? im currently on a journey to learn more about flat ontology, sifting through kant's work Critique of Pure Reason and seeing how we veered off Object-oriented ontology in favor of Idealism, and whether that was the right path i suppose. i'm mostly intruiged by the notion that splitting the subject and object exclusively for humans is invalid and that objects have similar dissolving and distortion of reality that humans do when interpreting/being and whatever the hell occurs when we interact with nonhuman things.

What is Heidegger's main point? The concept of dasein has been given a metacognitive status, like an idea that is not easily grasped through human minds and instead has to be felt to be understood. However, this idea has had several modifications and a villainous nature: People that have died while trying to comprehend it, or having achieved it, proving being too much for them and die anyway. It's also sometimes reported to have a mind of its own and being in the essence of things and even the universe itself and have a malicious or hegemonist nature, which may that it could actually be a demon or an immaterial evil entity. In essence, it's been established as a villain and a really powerful one at that.

>lol nazis Heidegger was a post-modernis-
>everything essential and of great magnitude has arisen only out of the fact that man had a home and was rooted in a tradition. Contemporary literature, for example, is largely destructive.

>The Physics is a lecture in which he seeks to determine beings that arise on their own, τὰ φύσει ὄντα, with regard to their being. Aristotelian "physics" is different from what we mean today by this word, not only to the extent that it belongs to antiquity whereas the modern physical sciences belong to modernity, rather above all it is different by virtue of the fact that Aristotle's "physics" is philosophy, whereas modern physics is a positive science that presupposes a philosophy.... This book determines the warp and woof of the whole of Western thinking, even at that place where it, as modern thinking, appears to think at odds with ancient thinking. But opposition is invariably comprised of a decisive, and often even perilous, dependence. Without Aristotle's Physics there would have been no Galileo.

I don't really understand /lit/'s aversion to reading Aristotle's works, I often see recommendations to skip it. Yes they are difficult reads, but people are willing to struggle through many modern works which are just as difficult. He is an essential figure for the whole western intellectual tradition, skipping him is fairly ludicrous.
