Let's all be honest, you're following that chart because you want to get to Plato and Aristotle.
Edith Hamilton's mythology, complete waste of time. Told me nothing I didn't already know really, maybe useful as a refresher or reference book but wikipedia is a click away. Good thing I just read a PDF online for free of that one.
The Histories was a mess, particularly the first half, and I just don't see how it will be of any use to me in helping to understand the philosophy later down the line. I guess it was a good introduction to the world of classical greece, some customs and foibles that might come up later..?
Thucydides is much more enjoyable to read at least, there's a coherent narrative and this is the actual time period and the major war/ cultural event that Socrates lived through and presumably influenced who he was. I still feel like it's kind of unneccesary though, I'll probably finish it tonight and I have a copy of Xenophon's Hellenica next but I'm just starting to lose motivation here. Have I just wasted the last month of my life, and 20 bucks, when I could have just started reading Plato right away?
