What else is there in the vein of Debord's "Spectacle", Zizek's "Ideology, Adorno's "Culture Industry" Baudrillard's Simulacrum?

I'm too lazy to actually read it so what does Debord think the alternative is? What should we be doing instead? How should society change?

Criticizing consumerism is now reactionary according to bourgeois leftism.

Help me understand this? Literally any input nothing specific. It doesn't feel that dense but I always feel like I am missing the real content or subtext of this kind of material.

Has anyone ever adequately criticized what Debord says here? I've never heard any of the usual faggots even mention it before.

What is the relation of "the spectacle" to "power"? It seems to me that the spectacle doesn't arrive top-down, but bottom-up. Humans are inherently weak, hedonistic and idolatrous: it seems only inevitable that, because of our own nature, the spectacle would arise without the need of a seemingly authoritarian governing force

Thoughts on this book? I recently saw a generic pop video that was fake deep and it was full of comments like 'this is so meaningful', despite it obviously being a manufactured product and I want to get into books that echo this feeling.

Tried reading Society of the Spectacle and holy shit he writes very generally and I keep feeling like he's going to provide examples of what he's talking but he doesn't. I felt similarly while reading A Sickness Unto Death. What do?

>It should be said that technology is only valuable so long as it is not a crutch for domestification which will decline the overall health and intelligence of the human species; the fact that we prioritize medical treatment of the unfit, the chronically diseased, and old people who only have a few years left at the expense of the healthiest members of the species is only one such example.
Perhaps said a bit harshly, but I do wish more people came across this sentiment. Technology largely does operate as a crutch, as much as people seem to gloss over it.
