Travel to Dresden sometime, you will see amazing contrast between the old rebuilt pre-ww2 city, the old GDR commie architecture, and the new modern city. I almost prefer the soviet commieblocks over the modern. The old pre-war cities are of course extremely comfy and livable. But Russia really has nothing of the sort, because of poverty from serfdom, wooden housing that rots/burns away etc.

I think the building you posted actually looks decent, just with a different coat of paint maybe. Look at the picture, this is the pride of modern Norway, while the old city is being torn down bit by bit to make space for more. They can't stop drooling over it in the state media.
