Don't necessarily start with the greeks, start with whatever school of thought interests you (picrel). Believe me, I fell for that meme chart. It would take you years to finish all of those books, never force yourself to read it just because they said so. I wasted 7 months reading things I'm not interested in

Realistically speaking, how long should it take me to reach contemporary philosophy if I were to start with the Greeks (and I have)? Not necessarily reading everything across the timeline of philosophy, but reading at least a little more than what is considered the bare essentials.

After Greek and Roman philosophy, can I skip right to Modern philosophy (starting with Descartes)?

How accurate is this chart? Would starting at either the beginning or the rationalists be a good place for a newb?

He was right about everything, to the point even fucking Nietzsche couldn't manage to dislike him. That being said if you actually care about philosophy just start with the greeks and work your way up, or, pick whichever appeals to you the most but the more modern they are, the hardest time you'll probably have understanding them.

If you don't read through philosophy chronologically, then you don't fully understand your favorite philosopher. Even if you think you do.
