Sometimes you feel as though you are genuinely living, and not as though you are in a facsimile of what one might call living, as though living were a desperate charade in which you constantly look for the part that you must act out, but instead are left with a desperate game where you act out what you think you want to show everyone, all so that you can satisfy them in the charade that they also play, but have somehow invested themselves into the role of, as if they had become one with the role, as if they were the cold solidity of analysis boiling into free flowing and freely associating ideas.

I read 5 pages of James Joyce's Portrait, I felt for once that I was reading and not analyzing it, as though I was in the head of Stephen. I had a bit of something green before hand and a sip of Kraken cut with a little water to eliminate the burning you get when it's concentrated. I tired myself out a little, so I just sat and thought.

It made me wonder what it would be like if I could live through social experiences and not feel as though it were a deliberate, calculate move, or if I could read things and not be distracted by my own thoughts. If it were free flowing, didn't involve anxiety and tiredness. I guess the word for socializing would be introvert, although I'm not sure what my problem with reading is. If I did not feel tired as a result of socializing then I would not be an introvert, but do introverts feel tired or do they analyze things too much, and then feel tired because they analyze too hard? Must be analyzing, what else could it be? Those who introspect a lot and do not just have the feeling which compels them underpinning their thoughts, as the extroverts must, might feel as though they are in the moment.

But being an extrovert does not guarantee that one feels they are in the moment either. One is almost entirely at the mercy of whether or not their particular brain wave patterns have bumped into the right receptor, like a bunch of billiard balls bouncing around and sometimes going into the hole. Except in the brain sometimes all the billiard balls seem to uncannily find the hole, and sometimes they inconspicuously fly off to the side as a pack everting the everloving hole as if it were not their HOME! As if they had not seen Happy Gilmore.

What is a narrative? How does it different from storyline and plot?
