Does BotNS ever get to the point where it's so self-referential with in-universe lore allusions that you have no fucking clue what they're talking about?
And as a general thing, how distinctly FOCUSED does the plot remain? I've heard that Severian just repeatedly stumbles stumbles into stupid, silly shit and the whole thing just goes crazy with the alien shit
