>the amount of Christians that I know who do not differ much from the world at all; they only differ in philosophy and not praxis
This is very common. The Western church is very decadent these days. If you want praxis you need to seek out a faith community that does intentional community. Me and my girlfriend are part of one and they're slowly growing around the world. Christians in the West are slowly realising that they aren't the status quo any more and so we're coming up with new ways to do faith that doesn't rely on ordinary social channels. In other words, Rod Dreher's Benedict solution is really happening. But aside from that, I would also keep in mind the fact that holiness is often invisible. You'd be surprised to know that many of those forgettable old ladies that go to mass each day are real living saints.

I'd suggest you read through some of the minor prophets, and also the Book of Maccabees. They deal with the banality of a mediocre, sell-out, pathetic church and the life of the true faithful amidst it. Don't give up on God simply because most Christians are hypocrits.
