not that, just that for heidegger is nietzsche is That Dude: the ultimate, and final, western metaphysician. it's convenient, of course, that this sets up heidegger himself to be the first post-nietzschean metaphysician, and the evidence for this is supplied by heidegger himself. he was not a man of small ambitions like that, he really did believe that he could channel the destiny of western thinking through his own head.

so that book is really more about heidegger than nietzsche, but heidegger was always very much in nietzsche's shadow in a sense. it shapes the way he writes and thinks. for heidegger the crucial moments in western philosophy are nietzsche, the pre-socractics, holderlin, and him. he believes that thereafter metaphysics only means technology and cybernetics.

pic rel is one of the most notorious quotes he ever says on this, for instance. and it's certainly arguable that a lot of the stuff he says in this regard, historically speaking, makes a persuasive case for a return to metaphysics rather than away from them. but if you asked him if he wanted to destroy metaphysics, he would say that this has simply changed into a discourse on technology. nietzsche is really the guy who completes the system and heidegger would say he is only laying out the ground-rules for existence in the conditions that follow.

there are ofc holes in this argument large enough to fly a plane through, and a lot of the things people love to hate about continental philosophy are due to heidegger and his influence. but one thing you can't say about him is that he didn't think thinking was worth the effort or the time.
