>Due to the nature of their conflict, while the effects of it aren't directly felt on our level, they do seep in through the cracks; they're felt on a subconscious level by humanity, influencing our actions, etc
>The worse their war gets, the worse our world does
>Though a majority of the human population aren't aware of this conflict, a select few people do; something about the war above inadvertently these individuals' cognition, not only are they able to perceive what's really going on, they're able to interact with this higher dimension and even cross through. A good number of these humans have decided to help one side or the other of this war, mainly out of a sense of self-preservation
>Protag inadvertently gets drawn into this conflict as he turns out to be one of the people who has been affected
>The situation seems almost picture-perfect to the Protag despite the dire stakes involved: he thinks he'll finally be doing something that matters
>As the story goes on, not only does he prove to be terrible at helping out the side he's found himself on, he also discovers the conflict is much less cut and dry than it initially appeared to be, much like most real life human wars
>He finds that despite being in a fantastical situation, meeting fantastical people and having fantastical powers, he is still ultimately in the same situation he was before
>What does he do now?

Fuck if I know. That's as far as I got in terms of anything close to concrete
