> The darkening of the heavens over man has always increased in proportion to the growth of man's shame before man. The tired pessimistic outlook, the mistrust of the riddle of life, the icy negation of disgusted ennui, all those are not the signs of the most evil age of the human race: much rather do they come first to the light of day, as the swamp-flowers, which they are, when the swamp to which they belong, comes into existence—I mean the diseased refinement and moralisation, thanks to which the "animal man" has at last learnt to be ashamed of all his instincts.
-Friedrich Nietzsche, “On the Genealogy of Morals”

I've recently gotten into the artist Edvard Munch. Does anyone know of any good books (biographies, collections of his notes and poetry, etc.) about him? Here is his portrait of Nietzsche, who he was deeply influenced by.

Read the whole thing cover to cover
I recommend it. Its a quick read. For example the first 200 pages are important but then there is a section on how to read history, how to read philosophy, how to read fiction, textbooks etc.
I just held off on that until i was about to read those specific things then I referenced it again.
I feel like it really improved not just reading comprehension but over all enjoyment of books

Lads, I'm experiencing infatuation for a THOT, and I'm hurting as hell, I'm probably on a depressive episode and these other feelings don't help. I have been self medicating myself because I can't handle the despair and intrusive thoughts.
Can you guys post some poems that match this state? I know english and spanish, so if you know some poems in spanish that fit this don't doubt posting it in the original.
I'm not usually a poetry guy, I enjoy prose much more, but I can't focus on narratives because my chest hurts and my mind doesnt leave me alone.
I thought this kind of crap didnt happen after a certain age, but it seems like my heart didnt learn the lesson.

Hey /lit/, sorry for the pleb question, but is this a decent reading order for Nietzsche?
Untimely Meditations

Human, All Too Human: A Book for Free Spirits
The Gay Science
The Birth of Tragedy
Beyond Good and Evil
Genealogy of Morals
Thus Spoke Zarathustra
The Case of Wagner
The Twilight of the Idols
The Antichrist
Ecce Homo
Nietzsche Contra Wagner

Is there anything I should take out/any unnecessary works that aren't important or good? Anything I should change up? Also, do you guys have any good recommendations for secondary sources? I want to make sure that I don't misinterpret Nietzsche as I've heard that many people do.

>The philosopher is the king of the actual, the artist that of the fantastical. The difference between the two therefore is that the end product of the philosopher's work must be attainable — unavoidable, even; while that of the artist never.

What did he mean by this?

>Why there cannot exist two equal things. Because each thing is related to everything else in the universe. For two different things to be equal they would have to be related to all other things in the universe in an exactly equal fashion, including to each other, in which case they would have to be the same thing, i.e. not different things. I believe the mathematicians call this sort of proof "reductio ad absurdum".

Has anyone noticed that people who are heavily into Schopenhauer have a problem with branching off into new territories? It seems like their asceticism involves not reading anything other than Schopenhauer.

Nietzsche believed that it is impossible for one to always be an Overman/Superman, but one can only have brief moments of it.

Have you ever had a moment of this?

I really want to believe what is going on here, I really do.

But I can't get past the fact that nothing here is proven and it's full of contradictions

I'm on my 4th Nietzsche book and he has yet to make a coherent definition of "will to power". He has failed to provide any evidence that validates the statement: "everything is driven by an innate will to power".

Also:
>So I've lived my life 100% towards more power. I've conquered as many people as I could, I've achieved self mastery, complete subordination of all entities I come across, etc. What happens when I reach the end of my life?
>I obtained as much power as I could, now what?

Where is the meaning behind power?
This hurts to keep reading because it just sounds like un-backed commentary. Does anyone who is perhaps a better reader than me have the answers to this?
