Got this book as a gift. Masquerades as being a thoughtful analysis of the challenges and emotions we face in life, but in reality is an uncompelling story filled with religious nonsense such as 'god works in mysterious ways' and 'what is my destiny' and other such superstitious rubbish.

Would not recommend. I wouldn't have even minded if a book told the story from a religious worldview so long as the person was at least somewhat rational and respectable, but this was utter feelgood supernatural tripe.

I'm sorry guys, but the boundary between fiction/fantasy can never actually disappear. They are literally two polar genres

The fact that it is a popular trend to cross the two does not mean either is dead.

Guilty. I actually do know who Gore Vidal is, but admittedly I didn't know what he looked like and wouldn't have been able to tell you that was him if not for that other anon. I don't think it's particularly horrible if you don't know who Gore Vidal is, is it?

It's impossible, on the other hand, to not know who Snooki is or what she looks like. Intelligent, well-adjusted people who don't watch Jersey Shore aren't exactly immune to over-saturated cable dissemination and low-brow reportage.

I certainly am developing some kind of elitist attitude for my story. It's meant for 6 full-length novels, but damn it, I'm stuck on the outline. Has anyone skimped on their outline before? Fuck the outline? I'm also taking an absurd amount of time role playing with my characters, because they still feel unnatural.
