Monarchy/Oligarchy never ended. Or do you feel in charge? In the long run there is no revolution or counter-revolution. Things like the French Revolution happen when a regime is too successful to be externally toppled but too geriatric to solve its internal issues. Even the revolution corrected itself—going from abstract "reason" to caesarism as soon as the former reached levels of arbitrariness and disintegrative tendency rivaled only by what had just been decapitated. But it's all human either way. There's no non-human government that's ever been tried. I get the sense you have your own autistic priors—merely the inverse of those of a French anti-clerical bourgeois theorist. Still those of a human!

Capital reproduces itself but we increasingly do not reproduce ourselves. The wealthiest, or most capitalist, countries have the worst fertility rates, the poorest evolutionary fitness. They are part of the reproductive system of a kind of inorganic life, machines, capital itself. The poorer countries, being less developed and more organic, retain more anti-democratic, pre-capitalist social norms, like larger family sizes, authoritarian governments, tribal affiliations, theistic religion, etc. Relative to more capitalist countries they are almost like a sort of human reservation, even when being exploited by the former. Capital may not be alive like a dog or a squirrel but it is an observable order which networks and harnesses resources to propagate itself. You can't reduce billions of lives to decisions of a few assholes. That's basically a version of the great man theory, which is an absurd first-causal explanation which mistakes a level of intensity for a pure agency. The assholes are like wasps to a flower, spreading pollen. We can't leave out the flower in explaining the pollen.
