Recently got accepted to Harvard for next year. But the problem is that I can't stop listening to Hiphop and I'm convinced that the best possible thing to do with my life is make trap beats. I genuinely think it is the literature of our generation. Nobody reads anymore so it's sure as hell not actual books. Poetry is identity politics. Trap beats are pure aesthetic value. Am I wrong?

I think I want to take a gap year and spend it exclusively making trap beats on soundcloud.

I imagine the Greeks said the same thing about the poetry of Homer.

Why is wit so important to humor? Because sincerity is basically lying. You need something more than tragedy to make something worth reading, because anything worth being told in a story is a lie in itself, an illusion to make it seem like we are not living in the consummate tragedy of existence together. Humor is the breaking of this sincere image against reality and the mocking nature of it is recognition of the true backdrop to the theatre of the imagination that plays out across literature.
