i'm reading more fiction now but i'm not getting immersed. i've read two books already this year and while i could visualize most of it I didn't "disappear" or forget I was reading. It felt very active and not flow-like. Maybe I just wasn't into the books? Do you guys have any tips for immersion or have you gone through a rough patch like this before?

I hear you brother. Just finished the last Dune book and now going on to another book feels strange because Herberts writing style was so good.

I want to write a book in which main character is going to be my self-insert that I am going to use to psycho-analyze myself. Thing is that I don't really know how to start. in most of the stories there is useally some crisis/conflict that sets the story in motion. should I write it as short-stories or as a novel?
