>how do I go about responding to this scenerio in a way that isn't militantly autistic?
You could try any number of thought experiments. A favorite of mine, precisely because it demands immediacy, is the Star Trek teleporter question. Ask those faggots if they would agree to be teleported, to have their atoms disassembled in one place and reassembled somewhere else thousands of miles away with a very slight time lag. Would they do it? Do they think it's them that comes out on the other side, that is, is it the same person or a copy of the person? Most people think they die in this case and a copy is made but it isn't them, they don't 'inhabit' that copy. What then is the difference?

Watch stupid positivists completely shut the fuck up when you bring up these kinds of simple phil101 thought experiments. It's like watching a child suddenly discovering their morality or something, 9/10 of them get completely awed at the virgin territory now getting probed by your big idealist dick.

>Just trying to save you from hell tbqh

you have received and accepted (or imagined) the notion of a realm of eternal immortal torture and alienation from God.

and you have received and accepted (or imagined) the notion that you have been charged with saving other people from this place.

What are your thoughts on this matter?

Money. Any other answer is retarded beyond belief, and that's the only truth in the world.

Just because helping others can indirectly help you, doesn't mean it's the most effective way to help yourself. I am sure if you were to quantify the expenditure of effort against the 'help' gained you'd realize a direct and directly serf serving route is most economical. You sound spooked, anon.

New game, /lit/

I'm going to start with a random title and an unrelated random opening sentence. Anons respond with either their version of the corresponding opening sentence to a title provided in the thread or vice versa, providing your own title or sentence (if your response is a title, provide a random opening sentence for others to title).

Does Buddhism make any sense if one does not believe in the circle of rebirths? Why attempt to liberate oneself from suffering with spiritual practices when the eternal nothingness of death is readily available?

Not defending OP. But I don't think they're trying to romanticize so much as legitimize and understand.

There are many reasons why a person would want to kill themselves, besides mental illness (which btw isn't voluntary) and saying "fuck you" to someone.

There's the impending sense of doom, and wanting to choose when you die, instead of letting the world do it for you.

There's the numerous, incredibly-painful diseases, infections, and injuries one can receive on a moment's notice.

There's the never-ending political, social, and religious turmoil our world is in, and it gets maddening to some people who are exposed to it daily.

There's the sense that language will never get across your ideas, and someone will always misunderstand, misrepresent, or bully you out of a conversation.

There's so many depressing things in the world, that are completely incidental and unavoidable, that I sympathize with anyone who wants to clock out early.

I would never do it myself, and whether it's because I "love life" or I'm "a coward" is an answer that varies from day to day with my mood.

Calling someone a "pseudo-intellectual" isn't fair to the person and how they arrived at their opinions. It's a dismissive label meant to say "anything you think or say is a vain attempt to be smart, and not actually a genuine attempt to understand and interact with the world."

Even if it's true for some, other people just arrived at horrifying opinions via horrifying experiences.

Also, there's plenty of wonderful things in the world too, but some people have a life situation that completely isolates them from all of that. Some people are literally born into a series of unfortunate events, and saying that they should just buck up, shove their opinions up their ass, and take life the same way vastly luckier people is demonstrably the same world-weary insensitivity that may have lead them to be suicidal in the first place.

Why is Poetry objectively more beautiful and evocative than the Novel?

Is it because Novels have so much filler and fat, while poetry is distilled, concentrated and pure from beginning to end?
