To be a happy person, you require an intimate relationship, and to maintain a healthy relationship, you need to understand the pitfalls that reliably occur and how to deal with them. Although not strictly about dating, if you are at all interested in building a relationship I recommend reading "Hold Me Tight" by Dr. Sue Johnson.

First of all, you should determine precisely what you wish to obtain from a woman. Hooking up and sex? Or building a relationship for the long haul? Second, lower your expectations in terms of looks. If you are worried about being spineless or autistic, do not go after attractive women. Avoid standard "red flags" as well in terms of personality.

I am quite socially awkward, but am reasonably witty and I used a dating site to find my current gf of 7 years and we are very happy and compatible. For me, I hyper focused on finding a compatible personality to mine, and it worked excellently in my case.

Good luck bro, I remember being 19 without so much as a first kiss and feeling quite hopeless, but if I had known how things would unfold, I wouldn't have been worried at all

Admittedly an absurdly cheesy title, this book contains some of the best insights into intimate relationships I've ever read. A must read for anyone who seeks a secure, long term romantic relationship, or anyone who just wants to understand romantic attachment. I often think back on it in regards to my relationship and I can confidently say it has helped make my current 6+ year relationship healthier

yes, "hold me tight" by Sue Johnson. I highly suggest it to anyone currently in or interested in having a romantic relationship. you may be turned off by the hyper cheesey look, but this is fantastic book that allows you to frame the conflict inevitable to all relationships in a way that helps you understand why there is conflict and how you can best diffuse it and make progress towards a more stable baseline. solid research basis, excellent anecdotal examples from the author's decades of relationship counseling, and just an all around strong foundation to build your relationship on
