What are some of the best written contemporary novels? I'm not looking for classics, I know that many of the best written works are older, but I'd love to read some great writing in more modern styles.

You should start by making a blog instead of a blog thread. Also please ask yourself next time before you go to gum up a thread with angry replies: "is this worth the time, and does it contribute anything useful to the thread topic? Or am I just trying to make myself feel better?"

all humans do this you fucken idiot, apply that same analysis to yourself and you'll see, we're all showing off our persona, when you say, "i like thing" the message is "i identify with this" "this is who i am" you're presenting yourself to the world, like 80% of our communication is us just showing off

I also feel this way anon, but i recently started coming back after a long abscence cause i noticed this place's mentality from a few years ago was actually starting to take a toll on my psyche, so i left and boy how things have changed, it's not that 4chan made me miserable, i was a sad fuck before, but the shitty thoughts from everyone here certainly weren't helping. I still don't browse /b/ anymore, lost track of the memes and it's filled with fucking filth for the mind, i only browse /lit/ and /x/ these days and yeah people seem nicer

Is reading same book over and over again preferable to having diverse taste? My father is like this, he spend youth reading two three books from boredom, and now he quote whole Pan Tadeusz passages from memory (national epic poem here). I dont know any poems from memory, as i read few books a month like an autist i am. My father is dumb as bricks and fat tho (he had problem with reading Wuthering Height for example and he lost this fucking book in hospital) but i respect him for this one skill

So Nihilism: what is it? What are the different forms of it? Is it a symptom or a cause?

What books, articles, or blogs would anyone recommend to learn more about it?

They are, but would they feel the same joy feel them up when they obtain a 2€ reduction at their local supermarket every now and then in a world where every day is Christmas to quote >>7197309 ? No and it is because our conception of satisfaction comes from the rarity of the joyfull situations.
(however that doesn't lie in our essence as beings but it is more of a social construct of our modern world).
