For me it's because I've actually spend time on these boards and am well aware of their shortcomings. Personally I came from /his/ and left because half the content is in the vein of pic related, and the other half is in the vein of 15 year old CK2 players spouting autism about how their chosen empire is the coolest.

However, that's not what I was talking about. The sort of immigrants we have problems with on /lit/ are not from other boards but other websites. There is a serious influx from reddit right now, and they stick out like a sore thumb.
