To me anime is more of a way to relax and entertain myself. I haven't personally seen one that was even remotely as complex or thought provoking as a good piece of literature, but I think that some of the better ones are way ahead of certain other forms of media like capeshit or the average book you find at your local Tesco.

That being said, it doesn't sound too far-fetched to think that some experimental writers would attempt to make references to anime, like this Anon put it >>14643382
