The Golden Years

Things have changed. I remember that I once had the better off
than what I have now. It smelled tastier when
the air was fresh.
Maybe it was because of the germinating in autumn
or so it was I who became colder.
My basement was inhabited by cellar spiders,
where I never went down.
The rest of my house was too quiet to stay in.
Now that all passed away.
The kids are fine,
they said, anyway.
For every morning I found more hairs
in the sink
but the shock came when I opened up the shower valve
and pulled out something that looked like
a submerged pet.
They call it the golden years, but alas!
why all the food tastes
suddenly as lead.
Using mugs occupied desktop
and bottles rolled around on the floor.
Whatever I feel like
everything was better before.
Now I do not anymore.
When woke up in the morning and looked out
through the window above the cushions
I always smiled to sunrise.
I think in all cases
I smiled.
