Reading through Plato, Aristotle and Cicero, and learning about Sir Thomas More (who remains something of a hero of mine), brought me to the conclusion that the best thing you can do vocation - wise is civil service. Man is by nature a political animal, and if you're not cut out for a life of sequestered contemplation, fulfilling your civic duty is a sure path to eudaimonia.

That isn't to say become a politician, but I could never find fulfilment in a corporation, chasing money to buy more things. Civil service could mean politics - either elected, or in your country's equivalent of political service - or teaching, joining the police, working for a charity, becoming an architect or civil engineer, etc.

There's plenty to choose from, but ultimately the noblest thing you can do is contribute to the world around you in some small way. Teenagers want to save the world. Be content with leaving it a little better than you found it.

If you're open to it, I also recommend reading Augustine's Confessions. Everything must be rooted in God IMO. Christian humanism is the way to go.
