You should really read Flasman, one of the main influences of Ciaphas Cain.
Very entertaining series, with an even bigger self centered bastard as a main character, that somehow always ends up as a hero.
Be warned though, it's not sci-fi, it takes place during the times of the British Empire.

Itt, a great example of satire of the British Empire. Even if it was written in 1969.

It's the first of the series I've read and already I can tell the others are going to be equally terrifying examples of Flashman leaving a swathe of ridiculously caddish behaviour across the planet.

These books are hilarious.

I would hardly call this a guilty pleasure, but pic related is a very enjoyable series that I'd hardly bring up to, say, some cute MFA candidate I was trying to seduce.

Still based as fuck though.
