>man is a compound of needs which are hard to satisfy
>their satisfaction achieves nothing but a painless condition that leads to boredom
>boredom is a direct proof that existence is in itself valueless
>thus human life is a mistake

What the hell was Schopenhauer smoking? Why the fuck am I agreeing with Schoppy?

Trust me, it makes so much difference. People with a sedentary lifestyle like us need that exercise, and it's not very distruptive to just walk around your neighborhood for half an hour a day. If you do that, you'll meet the recommended amount of exercise per week. It will help your mind too, allowing you to focus on reading better.
Plato viewed that it was very important for us to take care of our body so that we may focus on philosophy. Pic related took a walk every day no matter the weather, which he claimed was the reason for his good health in old age. Follow in their footsteps.

Monthly Reminder that reading TOO much is bad.

>Memory is not a bank of representations but rather links that present themselves too us readily often so that we remember them. Memory is like folding cloth; once you have folded a particular wear enough times
it begins to become easier to fold that way and so, falling in place. Memory is a muscle.

>Reading book after book will have you reading a-lot and remembering nothing and so, learning nothing.

Do you agree with this statement?
>The cheapest sort of pride is national pride; for if a man is proud of his own nation, it argues that he has no qualities of his own of which he can be proud; otherwise he would not have recourse to those which he shares with so many millions of his fellowmen.
Discuss.

Schopenhauer was right!

>There is no better recreation for the mind than the study of the ancient classics. Take any one of them into your hand, be it only for half an hour, and you will feel yourself refreshed, relieved, purified, ennobled, strengthened; just as if you had quenched your thirst at some pure spring. Is this the effect of the old language and its perfect expression, or is it the greatness of the minds whose works remain unharmed and unweakened by the lapse of a thousand years? Perhaps both together. But this I know. If the threatened calamity should ever come, and the ancient languages cease to be taught, a new literature shall arise, of such barbarous, shallow and worthless stuff as never was seen before.
