Best for introductions. The flowery one may be good, the poetic-y one may be good, but if you can't speak ancient Greek, Fagles is a fine choice.

"Cool" is not the word to describe them. "High minded" or "Principled" perhaps "Stuffy"

But much of the schlock the publishing industry turns out is such mindless fluff compared to the more established classics. Look the most popular books of today, 50 Shades of Grey, Hunger Games. Pale imitations and porn. Who could blame them? (When there are plenty of other reasons to blame them)

Found a "genre fiction" book you really liked, good for you. Now go read Moby Dick or the Odyssey (No Finnegan's Wake. Its a joke book) That's what we say.
