Every relationship is different, and I've never been with a woman myself so I can't speak from first hand experience, but from what I've experienced male-male relationships are probably a little more candid. Not just in the realm of sex, though that's often the case, but in conversation, how you understand the other person. Male-female relationships involve a lot of very socially regulated negotiation; delineation of boundaries, overcoming contradicting intuitions, preferences, etc. All relationships do, of course, but sex difference adds its own weight to it, I guess. Not trying to imply homo relationships are superior to hetero or that it's easier across the board, there are just different places of emphasis because of the veritable difference in social/biological dynamic.

As for the male youths thing, that's an interesting topic. Richard Burton, who translated the Arabian Nights, noted the existence of what he called the 'sotadic zone', basically the Mediterranean in Europe and parts of the New World where pederasty seemed to be prevalent across cultures and time periods -- Grecian, Latin, Arabic, Japanese etc. Is that just cultural influence/exchange or is there some other geographical/economic/genetic factor there? It's probably a lot of different things.

For some pederasts, the power differentiation might be the defining attractive feature, but for the other, where the root of the desire is the experience of a cherished boyhood relationship or something, it might be more of a lost youth age regression thing. And then there are heterosexuals who have fantasies about BEING a young boy and having sex with an older woman or some shit. But of course you can't put all desire in terms of "well it's compensating for x and y", because the visceral physical and behavioural characteristics of a man or boy or MILF or dog or whatever that makes people want to fuck them isn't completely reducible to psychoanalytic shit imo.

Most people are attracted to youth generally too I guess. Houellebecq has a line in The Elementary Particles about how most homosexuals are actually pederasts, most of whom prefer males aged 15-25 (consider the concept of 'gay death'). But the same can be said of heterosexual men and their attraction to younger women.
