The vast majority of music about depression / suicidal impulses is made because it's an outlet for those feelings. Phil Elverum made A Crow Looked At Me because it was the best way for him to pass some of the grief he had from his wife's death. Seriously believing that someone should maintain the depression they expressed in their music and even kill themselves because of it, all so that it "elevates their work", is nothing short of sociopathic, and I hope you stay far away from anyone with mental health issues.
