Why was simping considered cool back in the day?
Just look at Petrarch, Dante, Shakespeare, etc.
I can't help but think it's cringy and unhealthy but for some reason some of the best art was born out of it. What gives?

On a zoom call, when in class
I switched to view my favourite lass
The one I often dream to kiss
but who knows not that I exist
She looked demure and even meek
I saw her face but she didn't speak
Her voice so gentle, soft and clear
I felt so sorry to not hear
but with her webcam 'gainst her face
I imagined us in warm embrace
And all my dreams were made intense
by her very countenance
the same I longed to see in class
which egged me on to rip her mask
to see her bare and naked face
and by her visage to be graced
but in person we couldn't be
and so her face was then set free
and feeling this a moment rare
I resolved for more than just to stare
and so discretely was took a shot
of the screen with what I sought
and then came several hundred more
and all of that girl whom I adore
