Only through struggle can you grow. If in nature there was no struggle of one species against another or within a species then evolution comes to a halt. Psychopaths and narcissists are currently running rampant through society and it causes a lot of suffering to individuals living right now but it's ultimately beneficial to the species as it keeps us struggling. Deep corruption, abusive relationships and top down power struggles and inequality between people is the only thing keeping us from total decay and stagnation. Sad that it works that way but uncomfortably true.
