Read some Patristic literature, always with the mind opened to the possibility that your understanding of the Scriptures might be wrong. Take into consideration that the "true Church" is not related to your sensibility towards the Christian message but a historical fact regardless of opinion and doctrinal development.

Your rejection of the Petrine doctrine necessarily means that you cannot agree to sola scriptura as men themselves decided on what was in the canon and what was not. It follows that men can be vested with the power of the Holy Ghost. This authority is given to the pope through apostolic succession from Peter by Jesus (Matthew 16:18-19).
