I'm jewish so I think I can shed some light on this. This may sound really bizarre, but for all my life I've just been able to "sense" other jews around me regardless of any physical or social tells. I'll walk into a room and I'll immediately get this tingling feeling in my gut and testicles if there is another jew present. I am utterly incapable of explaining it, but it occurs with such frequency and accuracy that I cannot deny its existence.
