Is this actually difficult to read and comprehend for the average person?been very interested in buying a copy recently

Hello. I think my life is drifting away. I am simply not happy nor serene. And I think this is due to the fact that my world view is quite honestly detrimental.
Today a new idea entered my mind: change. My point of view. And I think books will expand my possibly limited view of my world.

So, what are good books to read to go beyond wordly affairs?
I always was into fantasy/Adventure/historical novels. But I think it's time to start with something more philosophical, or containing some philosophy (Things like Moby Dick for example? I don't know)
Not too heavy though. The only thing that I read on this regard is Siddartha by Hesse. And maybe Don Quixote.

Is this worth reading? For the fame it has, it's almost never brought up on this board while similarly popular and old/older works like shakespeare, beowulf, chaucer, don quixote, divine comedy are all mentioned much more.
