I've been posting on /lit/ for years and I've never even opened this general. I think of you as that weird clique in school that kept to themselves and nobody really bothered me. Even the bullies wouldn't go near them. You're like weird rat people that live in the sewers and everyone pretends they don't exist.

I've just been reading postmodern ethics. The general idea is moral relativism: that because there is no objective right or wrong we should tolerate all actions, like eating dog.

Let's assume you disagree with this. The only other possible position to hold is that objective morality exists, and that you could construct a moral framework to instruct others how to behave, i.e. normative ethics is a possibility.

This hypothetical universal moral system cannot possibly exist because all moral arguments are based on subjective experience of what we feel is right or wrong, which in turn is based on our own traits and temperance. You cannot even argue that eating dogs is objectively immoral, let alone prove any it, since it's all based on your emotions.

Question: since normative ethics isn't compatible with the idea that there is no objective morality, how can you refute postmodernism and even bother doing ethics at all? Does it even make sense to say "I believe it is wrong to do x even though I can't prove it?" How can you be content with saying anything that can't be proved?

I actually agree with you - I've never been interested in tattoos, fashion, or any other attempt at defining yourself with silly things like haircuts and jewellery... but what I find even sillier is the idea that some people are afraid of a bit of ink getting smudged when they're so old they're going to be practically repulsive to the rest of the world. Like how much of delusional egomaniac would you have to be to think that way? This alone makes me want to get a big cock and ball tattoo on my chest, just so I know who to avoid in life. If someone thinks less of me because I don't take life that seriously, then I don't want to speak to them.
