Then have both in mind and use one or other according to what are you reading or whom are you talking, I mean, with a italian or a priest use the ecclesiastical, and the restituta for the others.
For me is easier the eclessiastical, so I started to use that one even when I'm of those who learnt using the pronuntiatio restituta.
>incorrect in the academics.
for late antiquity and medieval texts reading aloud using the italian one wouldn't be wrong.

Hello frens, I'm based retard here I know little Latin and less Greet etc
Anyways can you guys just recommend me a few based verses of Latin poetry?
I'm writing something and just need 3-4 short Latin poems. They don't actually need to be the entire poem either really just like one sentence each y'know.
For example I really like the line
>Dulce et decorum est pro patria mori
or whatever it is. So just some examples like that. They don't need to be super famous or anything just looking for a few /based/ or whatever cool buzzword you want to use examples of Latin poetry

I finished my undergrad in philosophy, now how do I apply for an entry level local philosopher kingship position? Or is it better to start my own philosophizing startup?

So I just finished the Iliad. The overarching narrative is obviously Achilles his anger over his Argument and subsequent complete disrespect from Agememnon for taking his war booty girl Brisius. And finally, this anger getting further escalated by the killing of Patroclus by Hector. Then Achilles ass raping the Trojans. Killing Hector dragging his body around and getting angry again its not in complete tatters when hes done. Then Priam comes down asks for Hectors body. Achilles relents, calms down. He calls a truce for two weeks. The Trojans leave thee end basically.

the thing i'm not sure about is the entire meaning of it. Was it supposed to mean this great warrior can overcome his mental faults? and maybe even "forgive" his enemies? I also really enjoyed all the heroics by Odysseus, Diomedes etc. but the main driving force of the entire narrative the prior Achilles story. its what starts the story and ends it. everything else is just a backdrop or supplement. I did particularly like book ten where Diomedes and Odysseus kill some Thracians.

Overall. I really liked the story. I'm not going to read the Odyssey right away though. I read the Butler translation. I will read it after I read the next book. I also thought the sacrifices were extremely interesting. It made me imagine this like fuckin massive baggage train following the Greeks all the way Troy.

Latina lingua pulchra est, lingua somnorum meorum quoque est.
Monete me, magistri, si erro in sententiis meis latinis. Amabo te.
In Roma, oppida magana quae in Italia est, Quintus puer parvus dormit. Quintus solus est quia familia Quinti mortua est. Pater suum Matremque occidit.
Quintus pecuniosus non est. Pueri pecuniosi scholam it, sed Quintus tabernam it.
Quintus ante solem surgit tabernamque ambulat. In via nulla anima est, Quintus solus in obscuro ambulat. Ecce cornix senex foedusque ante Quintum apperit.
"Quinte" cornix vocat, "non tabernam it, se verte portam capenam it"
"QUID? Dei boni mei! Cur me vocat cornix?"
Quintus cerebrum sanum habet, sed cornix veritas non vocat.
"Qunite," respondet cornix, "Tace, tace pareque. Silvam Magnam it."
Cur Quintus errat? Multae periculae in silvis sunt. Quintus in silva clamat "Cur vito dei? Cur me ridet?" Sed Quintus solus in silva non est. Urusus magnus foedusque sub arbores dormit. Ecce urusus Quintum audit, surgit, pueremque occidet.
Ursus rex Silvae est. Puer qui solus silvam intrat stultus est.
Puer qui Cornicem vocat quoque stultus insanusque est.
Si cornix te vocat, medicum clama!

For those who are learning ancient languages, what are you studying and what are your goals? I spent last year perfecting my Latin and this year I'd like to do the same with Greek.

Latin is the comfiest hobby. Nothing comfier than reading some Cicero or Virgil. Today I read through some of Seneca's Epistulae in the bath with some hot coco. Was extremely comfy. I like Seneca's style of writing.
>quod timet servit
>quiescenti agendum et agenti quiescendum est
>alteri vivas oportet, si vis tibi vivere
I love sentences like this. A nice break from the Ciceronian periods. What have you been reading?

It's really solid historical analysis. Honestly, one of the most impressive both marco-level thesis and marshaling of micro-level evidence. Some of the best prose English has to offer. It doesn't account for new evidence (Archaeology, Epigraphy, so on) but his analysis is extremely strong and still influences modern scholarship.

Big-brain = "Well excellent historiography, one appreciates it almost as one would ancient historian like Livy"

Galaxy-brain = The Christian's destroyed the Roman Empire... and that's a good thing (Saying this as someone about to start his Phd in September and is integrating Ellul's milieu into my processes)
