I remember a thread on here the other day asked /lit/ for their favourite female writers and people only responded with the most Austen, Brontë, Eliot/Ann Evans. Not that there's anything wrong with these great writers. It just feels like /lit/'s hivemind behaviour has genuinely reduced the scope of the board to the same canonical writers who are mostly contemporary modernist and postmodernist male writers or writers like the aforementioned from secondary schooling. There are a number of talented, contemporary female writers that /lit/ would adore if it actually did read and were not just posture all the time.

Also, there are way more /pol/ crossboarders here -- that think literature is the spiritually aristocratic hobby to have -- who outright hate women.

Why does she get to win a bunch of awards for saying the n word and publishing it in every country, but if I just say it one time to the cashier at the CVS all of a sudden “I’m banned”?

I just read "Revelation" and "A Good Man is Hard to Find" and they were two of the best short stories I've ever read. I'm going to buy her collected stories now.
