I'm a Democrat, a Liberal, and a believer in the power of the free market plus intelligent interventions by the State. I believe in Social Liberalism and economic Conservatism. I'm also a believer in self-reliance and independence, but people who need assistance should get it. It is shameful to leave a countryman behind. Thanks guys, I think I am not ready for the big stuff when it comes to books.
I hope I didn't come off as too much of an asshole, I was just pissed because I payed money suggested by /lit/ for a book just to find out later that it wasn't up my alley, I'm sorry for that.

I read Catcher in The Rye, Fear and Loathing and Fight Club on that list btw, I bought Trainspotting but it was in scottish and I'm too europoor to understand.
Really looked forward to that book since I've been a drug addict NEET myself, hopefully I can find a copy that's easier to read.

I wouldn't say it's just from school. The whole American dream ideal is something totally ingrained in their culture.
