>How is dialogue handled? I feel like fiction about cavemen could only be told with a narrator describing what theyre doing without them speaking.

Clan of the Cave Bear is about a Homo Sapien orphan adopted by a neanderthal clan. The neanderthals have an intricate sign language and a sort of proto-language. They are surprised by the vocal flexibility of the homo-sapien they adopt. The novel does indeed spend most of its time describing what the clan does and not what they say. The speech is minimalist. The characters have names. It veers into magical realism sometimes when it shows the neanderthals having a collective ancestral evolutionary memory that they access by doing psychedelics and engaging in religious rituals.

Yeah if you spend your whole life working on your opus you never become popular. If you release frequently, don't overdo it, and get a lot of help from marketing and PR, you're a hack.

Hacks are successful. You're either a hack or you're whack.
